This is My Flag

This video of the flag raising was taken at Fort Sumter, SC where I was emotionally overcome with the symbolism and history of the site. I created the poem in 2015 as another emotional expression of the misappropriation of our national symbol happening the time. Putting the two together was inspired by Heather Cox Richardson when she asked for examples that describe "We Are America" as a celebration of our nation's 250th birthday.
