NEW ENGLAND PREMIERE

Updated: Sep 28, 2023

Poetry: To Get Lost In Just like most people, my plans were put on hold during the pandemic years. During that time, however, I was given the emotionally difficult yet humbling opportunity of helping with a family member's health crisis. All is well on that front. But the passion to share the talent given to me will not let me rest. It seems I have been able to continue to exhibit my work on a yearly basis and this year is no exception. I have the honor to install a comprehensive collection of my poetry at the Petersham Art Center in Petersham, MA. August 27th thru October 12th. The exhibit is an installation taking advantage of the beautiful grounds outside as well as the cozy exhibition area inside. Out on the lawn will feature the original "Field of Poetry" beckoning guests to meander through the field to pause and reflect but has an added component of two in-your-face banners hanging from the building itself. The exterior banners are an outgrowth of Saumitra Chandratreya’s and my collaboration of our previous installation "Secret Language of Intimacy" which was critically acclaimed in Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL. Hanging inside you will find two poems from the "Secret Language of Intimacy" installation hanging alongside a new collection of shadowboxes expanding that 'Reverse Ekphrastic' exhibit. Also inside are two walls of poetry mimicking the "Field of Poetry" on the lawn outside but in sizes more inviting to take home for yourself or as a gift. All told there are over 100 pieces of very accessible depictions of the art of poetry. They do not intimidate nor do they bring you back to the poetic challenges of high school. What this installation intends to do is create an entertaining path into the poetic form to expand the mind into reflection using "Writing that formulates a concerted imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm"* with both serious and comedic results. *Mirriam-Webster.com Plan your visit and feel free to contact me if you would like a private tour.
