Autumnal Equinox

I am known for saying, "I do not lead a boring life!" And though it is true, there is always a need to stop, pause, and reflect. The Equinox is a good time to do this because it is a time when the light comes into balance with the dark. What did we plant in the Spring, what did we nurture over the summer growing months, and what is it now we are harvesting to get us through the dark months of winter?

While the world around me seems out of control and out of my control, I remind myself to recite the prayer that truly grounds me.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change

the courage

to change the things I can

and the wisdom

to know the difference.

It is reassuring to know that I have tried my best to do just that over these past six months. While we have been relegated to be as divided as we could possibly be through literal separation, I have concentrated on doing what I can do, in my small world, to create change, positive change. The manifestation of my poetry into an art installation, Secret Language of Intimacy, has allowed Saumitra & I to share an important aspect of our nature that brings us all together as members of the one human race: our Emotions.

Emotional expression is a healthy part of of our holistic wellness plan. When we love, it needs to be shared to those we love. When we fear, we need to let those we love know it is a cry for help. There are only two emotion: Love or Fear. And Fear is only a lack of Love for Love is all there is. We may each express these emotions in very different ways but our singular expression will touch and reverberate through the universal umbilical cord we all share.

It is not always an easy thing to honestly share what we feel. We may not trust our emotions are true and therefore stuff them into a box until it bursts forth into an explosion of fearful energy. It takes courage to be so vulnerable and trust that those we love will honor our emotions. In this way we slowly learn which emotions are those of Love or those of Fear.

Visitors at Secret Language of Intimacy left these messages: "I feel like I can relate to a lot of the emotions." and "Your vulnerability is incredibly stunning and moving." These are wonderful validations that I have been able to muster the courage and trust to share the expression of my emotions so truly that they touch that part of someone's soul that is attached to our universal umbilical cord. We are truly one human race and cannot be divided. It is only illusion to perceive it so. And that illusion is created by fear, or truly, a lack of love. Love Always!

If you have not had a chance to visit Secret Language of Intimacy at Gallery 221 in Tampa, you still have until Thursday the 24th of this month. Click here to make a reservation. If you cannot get there in person, you can go to the Secret Language of Intimacy website and learn all about the installation and take two different virtual tours. More on that as we get closer.

But now is your chance to be part of the virtual closing reception this Thursday, September 24th at 6pm.
